When the sky decides otherwise, the Grand Ballroom, with its original 1875 bones, herringbone oak floors and extraordinary Art Deco chandeliers is a ceremony space in its own right, not a compromise. Either way, the moment is yours.

The Reception
Halcyon Hall is where the night opens up . High windows, ambient chandelier light, and French doors that spill out onto the Sunset Terrace when the evening calls for it. Seated for up to 180 or cocktail for 300, with The Gallery alongside for a bar setup or a space for the band.
Three courses, five hours of wine curated by our Sommelier, your cake cut and served. Your dedicated coordinator handles every detail so you don’t have to think about a single one.s.

When the reception wraps, Barlow is waiting. The only late-night venue on the Peninsula, open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays and your wedding guests walk straight in.
No queue, no searching for somewhere to go, no fleet of taxis into town. Just a different kind of night beginning in the same place the day started. Y our people, your private booths, the music turned up.

The Morning After
Gather whoever’s still standing on the Promenade for pizza and cold beers off the menu, put a tab on, or let guests go as they please. Hire out the Beer Garden and make a proper afternoon of it.
Or bring everyone back up to the Sunset Terrace for a private brunch before the weekend ends. However you want to finish it. A quiet corner or a full send-off, it’s all still here, and nobody has to leave the precinct to find it.

HALCYON HALL
180 seated, 300 cocktail style.
Halcyon Hall is where your wedding reception comes to life. The largest space on the Events Level, it sits beneath Art Deco chandeliers with sweeping windows overlooking the Sorrento foreshore. French doors open directly onto the Sunset Terrace, extending the space and the evening in equal measure.
SUNSET TERRACE
When the reception ends Barlow is waiting. Open Friday and Saturday nights, your wedding guests receive VIP entry and two secured booths. No queue, no searching for somewhere to go and nowhere else on the Peninsula open until 3am. The best wedding after parties always end here. Available for exclusive private hire.

THE GALLERY
Connected directly to Halcyon Hall and the Sunset Terrace, The Gallery adapts to whatever your wedding needs. For weddings under 160 it becomes the bar and lounge. A quieter corner where guests can escape the dancefloor without leaving the night. For larger weddings it opens up entirely as a dedicated dancefloor space.

ENQUIRE NOWHow does the planning process work?
From the moment you book your dedicated wedding coordinator is with you every step of the way. We handle the coordination so you don’t have to, from your initial planning meetings through to a detailed run sheet finalised two weeks before the day. Our goal is to make the entire process as simple and stress free as possible so that when the day arrives the only thing you need to do is enjoy it.
How many guests can we have?
The Continental can accommodate weddings of all sizes. Our spaces seat up to 180 guests for a seated reception or up to 300 for a cocktail style celebration and can be booked individually or combined to suit your guest list. With multiple spaces available individually or combined we can find the right configuration for your guest list.
Can we have our ceremony on site?
Yes. Both the Sunset Terrace and the Grand Ballroom are available as ceremony spaces for an additional fee of $1900. Your ceremony and reception can all take place within the one precinct.
What is included in the wedding package?
Your package includes a one hour canapé service, freshly baked artisan bread, a three course plated or shared menu, a five hour classic beverage package curated by our Sommelier, wedding cake cutting and serving, dedicated wedding coordinator and occasional furniture.
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes. The InterContinental Sorrento is located within the precinct with 108 rooms available for you and your guests. We recommend booking early as rooms fill quickly on wedding weekends. Sorrento also has a large range of Airbnb’s and accommodation all within walking distance from the precinct.
Can we continue the celebration after the reception?
Absolutely. Barlow is open Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm until 3am. Wedding guests receive complimentary priority entry and two reserved booths. Barlow is also available for exclusive private hire if you want the whole space to yourselves or your wedding is on an alternative night
Do you have a wet weather option?
Yes. The Grand Ballroom is our stunning heritage wet weather alternative for Sunset Terrace ceremonies. With original floors, soaring ceilings and Art Deco chandeliers it is a beautiful space in its own right and not a compromise.
Do you have recommended suppliers?
Yes. We have a curated list of trusted local suppliers including florists, stylists, photographers, celebrants and entertainment. Our team will share this with you early in the planning process so you have access to the best people on the Peninsula from the very start.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking 12 to 18 months ahead to secure your preferred date. If you have a shorter lead time please get in touch as we will always do our best to accommodate.
What happens at the menu tasting?
We host a menu tasting for the couple at a fee of $150 per preson which includes a glass of sparkling on arrival and a selection of entrees, mains, sides and desserts. Tastings are recommended 2 months before your wedding date.
Can we have live music or a DJ?
Yes. DJs and live bands are welcome to play until 11pm within the indoor event spaces. Acoustic is allowed on the sunset terrace until 9pm. For more complex audio visual requirements our team can connect you with trusted suppliers.
Do you cater for children?
Yes. Children are welcome and we can provide specific child menus if required including a main meal and unlimited soft drinks. Teenagers are catered for at an adjusted adult rate.
Do you allow pets?
Pets are welcome on the Events Level for ceremonies and photographs but are unable to be in any public spaces during your wedding day.
What does being a registered heritage site mean?
The Continental has been part of the Sorrento township since 1875 and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register as one of Victoria’s most significant historic landmarks. It is a place with genuine history and character that no new build can replicate.
